SciFi and Fantasy Art: THOH: Kim

Kim Gillian the genderless telepath getting nailed by a cyborg mutant killer (which is here since the background isn't finished). As soon as I'm finished with the background, I'll upload the whole picture here, with Kim, the cyborg and the background.
I'm starting to like that electric thing from her hand... Oh and if anyone else wonders, the electricity thing is one of Kim's mutant powers.
Then you'll probably ask "What other powers?" right? Well, Kim's a telepath (I said that first, read the beginning of the description), agile and heals rather fast. And well, Kim's genderless, that's a mutation too.

The arms seem a bit too short...

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Yeah... They were supposed to be bent a bit forward and backward... It's hard to establish that look on a pic... actually it probably only works properly in real life because we have two eyes that see differently. Oh well, at least I tried ;-)"

Well, I was never one to turn down such an invitation. I see that you have tried to make up for your complete and utter lack of originality this time with a basic understanding of lighting. It is kind of like kicking a man in the balls and then trying to make it all better by giving him a cookie. It hardly compensates. I will admit to the fact that the lighting and color schemes are quite nice, but I will also point out that you just took Wolverine, gave him a bandana and made him into a an effeminate bishounen (I know that is redundant.) with lightning coming out of his hands. Why not better yourself by stepping out of the proverbial box and taking your 'art' *shudders* away from this masse followed FAD? Oh, yeah. I forgot. It is because you are a SHEEP. So, next time you ask for an honest opinion: Remember that balls + cookie = baaaddd.

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "*huge scoff* This is getting better all the time! It's a shame that you don't have the ability to read the description though... you would do even better if you did that. (hint, hint) And once again you're defending the picture for me already in your own comment!
You are a great source of amusement in my life! Thanks! ^_^"

Hmmm, I was originally looking at your Elftown house when I followed the link you had to see what our dear "Ray Ray" wrote. I then came to this picture through your pages... I like it, so what if its not finished or not perfect in Ray Ray's opinion?? But can I ask a stupid question??? What mediums do you use? Oh, my elftown user name is Aurelia ^.^
Ciao!

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Heh, I couldn't really care less about what RayRay says (I mean, it's just so obviously groundless, I don't know exactly where he gets those ideas Ô_o), his comments just amuse me so much that I had to ask him to comment XD
I usually use pencil for linework and shading and then colour it and shade it more with PSP7. That's what I used with this pic. Sometimes I also use coloured pencils, ink, markers and Photoshop, but not often... they tend to frustrate me, lol.
Thanks!"

That is very cool! Did you use a computer effect for the elctricity thing? If so, what did you use, cuz I wanted to make something like that on a doll a little while back, but I couldn't figure out what to do...

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Well, I did it with PSP, but I didn't use any specific effect... I just drew the white lines with the brush tool and added some more or less transparent layers with which I did the lightning effects. Nothing fancy... =)"

Nice work. The forshortining of the arms works and looks good. The upper legs appear too long compared to the leanth of torso. The pose and action of the drawing lend enough interest to catch the eye. I would like to know more about this charictor. Gender or the sexual role a person plays in there society is very fundamental even in sexually ambiguas people society imposes a gender role of convenience upon them. developing a charictor that escapes that will be a chalenge that could iluminate much about the roles of gender and how they are imposed or chosen by and apon those who fit no particular mold.
EricThanks, especially for asking! The subject of assigning gender roles to people and how the deviants fit in is actually why I created this character in the first place; to study that and make it plausible. It's been done in some books at least, in Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness especially. It's a really good book, too.
